Life of an ECE teacher

To be an ECE teacher is to be told "awee how cute, that's an easy job, all you do is color and play all day..."

But the truth is that we are prepared to do more than just color. We are the first to teach students who have never been in school before. We teach them manners and social skills. We teach them how to be friends and share. We teach them how to be humans in the world we live in. We teach them the fundamentals of every math and literacy aspect, because how would we learn to read without knowing the basics of ABC's and 123's. We deal with a lot of social emotional and letting them know that every feeing is okay to have. Yes we teach how to color and draw actual human bodies rather than potato sacks, but being a ECE teacher is way more than that. We introduce them to society. We allow them to explore their own identity. We introduce them to their entire educational career. We are the teachers who try and have every kiddo that walks into the classroom feel like they are appreciated, heard, seen, understood, and loved.
