What was the biggest takeaway from building the unit?

I learned that a creating a dream unit using actual state standards is pretty darn messy. I found many ways to tie in what I was planning with real standards and real applications, but it felt backwards to actually setting up a D&D club after school.

What would you think about for the next time you build a unit?

This class has helped me to think about modules/units as larger umbrellas to lessons. The next time I build a unit, I'll start with a ciriculum instead of making it from scratch.

What would you tell people for next semester working on this project? (or for me)

I think for the rest of the module activities I am going to switch to analyzing lessons I'm going to be teaching in my second grade classroom this year. While the dream unit is a fun activity that I do plan on pursuing, tying it into the strict state standards in the module 1 assignment really was not a great idea.

Describe a connection you’ve made across two or more of the areas in the unit.

Switching to the actual 2nd grade lesson, this unit of our class is making me think about how the unit goals lead to the lesson goals of the days. In addition, our MTED class has focused heavily on equity in mathematics, and how an acheivable goal needs to be set for each student every day. Some students are significantly behind, and I've whitnesed them mostly just do what they can with the teacher present but never much of the assignment. I want to create some sort of an assessment that suits this student well and allows them a more equitable chance to succeed.
