What was the biggest takeaway from building the unit?

The biggest takeaway from building my unit plan was thinking about the connection between standards, big ideas, and essential questions. Connecting these three things was critical in creating meaning in the learning.

Both the language and cognitive demands tied back directly to the objectives as I was pulling the tasks and assessments to determine demands.

What would you think about for the next time you build a unit?

I think it was helpful to brainstorm the essential questions and big ideas prior to building a unit. Having already thought intentionally in these areas made building the rest of the unit notably easier.

What would you tell people for next semester working on this project? (or for me)

Having given serious thought to the pieces that came in previous weeks was particularly helpful. Taking the individual pieces (demands, essential questions, big ideas) seriously makes the "big" task of unit planning much less daunting.
