This is my third idea for a unit plan and I think I finally found it. My mentor, this is her first time teaching 5th grade so she is building as the year goes on. I want to make it easier on her potentially so my unit plan is going to be a narrative essay students do. The school is on a 10 day rotation with what happens for literacy so I think this could be something that happens once a month for students just so we don't throw off the schedule. The narative essay would be for a session once a month, students read a book of their choosing and then write as if they are the main character in their story with specific details. The details force students to pay attention to them in the story they read.
