Final Thoughts
Response to prompts 13 and 11:
As I end this program and anticipate my teaching career, there are both challenges and opportunities that I forsee in the future. I believe teaching is changing a lot as technology, knowledge, and students continue to change. I anticipate that it will be challenging to keep up with the ever-ending amount of information and resources needed to be a great teacher. For myself, I am not tech savvy and bet I will have difficulties adapted to new technology to keep up with my students.
Even with these challenges, I am excited for my learning to be ongoing with endless opportunities to improve my teaching through professional development and personal research. I look forward to adapting my classroom to the times and students I am teaching, in order to make it a community where we all belong.
As I transition from being a preservice teacher into having my own classroom, my biggest goals are to build relationships and create a community with student input. During practicums, it was difficult to feel like an essential part of the classroom when not being there every day (or for the entirety of the school day). Not only did I struggle filling gaps in the content I was missing, but I was missing the time to build relationships and get to know students. My goals are to set up a strong classroom community where all students feel essential. I believe that being more involved and focusing on bettering the classroom and my connections with my students will also help rekindle my love and passion for teaching with a greater intensity.
