1. How did your experiences in the program align with your expectations before starting the program?

I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I began the program. I had heard that CU Denver had a really good education program so I had high hopes. I was in NxtGEN and I feel this really helped me grow as an educator by giving me a lot of experience. I also really liked how professional year was laid out. Lead teaching really helped prepare me to become a teacher.

  1. What subjects or areas do you wish were covered more extensively or in greater detail during your teacher preparation program?

I wish that there was more discussion of classroom management. I feel like I learned most of my classroom strategies when I was in the classroom. I feel many of my classes did not talk about classroom management.

  1. As you transition from being a preservice teacher to a classroom teacher, what are your biggest aspirations or goals?

I already started teaching and it has been A LOT. Coming in the middle of the year was a lot harder than I had anticipated. I am juggling many things like setting up my classroom, lesson planning, getting to know my kids, and everything else. My goal for once I am all settled it to really enhance the lessons I am teaching. I want to take the curriculum and change it in ways the engage and benefit my students.
