1. What do you privilege when you provide feedback?

When providing feedback it helps guide students to better their work. We hold a lot of power when providing feedback. We could be providing feedback that isn't true, or doesn't help students improve their work. We also need to provide feedback in ways that doesn't lower our students self esteem. Ensure that you are pointing out strengths in their work and then add areas for growth. I think it is also important to stay away from words such as "weaknesses".

2. How does it connect to the content you are teaching?

This article talks about "give feedback they can use". I have spent a lot of time teaching math this semester. I was talking to my mentor teacher about how I need to be better with giving feedback. I find myself saying things like "good job!", "beautiful!", "love it!". I need to correct myself and say things like "good job, I like how you did this", "this part is really good, have you thought about what you can do with this?". I have the knowledge for what it means to give good feedback it is just hard to act on it in the moment. This is something I have been wanting to work on for "next steps". My lead teach week is happening this week so this is something I will really try to hone in on for myself!
