The objective from my lesson is "Students can add addition problems with 3 digits within 1-10 and subtract numbers within 1-20 by playing a game". One form of assessment I can use to connect to this objective is having students solve 3-digit addition problems, asking them how they solved these problems, and recording their answers. I found that students struggled most with solving 3-digit addition problems during this lesson. Part of the task of this assessment was that students were asked to roll 2 dice and add up the numbers. By the end of the game, the students had 3 separate numbers they needed to add up. My students this year are very proficient in math. Earlier with some classmates, we were discussing how math used to be a common deficit in classrooms and now we are finding that students have more deficits in literacy and more strengths in math. I would say the cognitive demand in this lesson was low at the beginning. It was fairly easy to explain this lesson to my students, they caught on very quickly. The cognitive demand was raised once they were asked to solve the 3-digit addition problems. The two language demands used in this lesson were speaking and listening. Students were required to listen to me and their teammates and were required to speak to each other. There was no reading or writing used during this lesson.
